Idaho Code 54-2307(2)(a) requires two (2) years of supervised experience, one of which MAY be a predoctoral practicum or internship and one of which MUST be postdoctoral. IDAPA 24.12.01.200.01.a defines a year of supervised experience as a minimum of 1,000 hours of supervised service provision acquired over not less than 12 and not more than 36 months. So the floor is 2,000 hours total, of which at least 1,000 must be postdoctoral; the first 1,000 may be earned predoctorally (after the equivalent of one year of full-time graduate study). Supervisory contact minimum is one hour of face-to-face individual supervision per 40 hours of experience. The doctoral program itself must also include a supervised practicum and an APPIC-member (or equivalent) predoctoral internship, which is separate from the hour counts above.

No Idaho jurisprudence or state-law examination for psychologists. IDAPA 24.12.01.100.01 names the EPPP as the written exam required for licensure (the Psychopharmacology Examination for Psychologists applies only to prescriptive-authority certification), and Idaho Code 67-9409(4) expressly bars licensing authorities from establishing a jurisprudence examination. Endorsement applicants instead certify under oath that they have reviewed and will abide by Idaho's psychology laws and rules and the APA ethics code (Idaho Code 54-2312(4)). Separately, 4 of the 30 required biennial CE credits must be in Laws and Ethics.

1. Earn a doctoral degree in psychology from a regionally accredited institution (an APA-accredited doctoral program is deemed to meet all curriculum criteria); the program must include at least three academic years of full-time graduate study, one in residence, a supervised practicum, and an APPIC-member or equivalent predoctoral internship.
2. Complete two years of board-acceptable supervised experience - at least 1,000 hours per year over 12 to 36 months, with at least one hour of face-to-face individual supervision per 40 hours of practice; one year may be predoctoral but the second must be postdoctoral.
3. Have each supervisor submit the board's written Evaluation and Accreditation of Supervised Practice / Supervised Experience form at the end of the supervisory period.
4. Register for and pass the EPPP (Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology); the exam fee is paid directly to the national examining entity.
5. Submit the licensure application to the Idaho Board of Psychologist Examiners through DOPL's online services with the application fee, the $25 processing fee, transcripts, supervision verifications, and criminal-history disclosure.
6. Once licensed, renew on the DOPL biennial cycle (licences expire on your birthday) and complete 30 CE hours every two calendar years, including 4 hours in laws and ethics.
7. Optionally register for PSYPACT through the PSYPACT Commission to practise telepsychology into other compact states; Idaho charges a $10 PSYPACT participation fee at renewal.

Idaho licenses by endorsement under Idaho Code 54-2312: the board may license a person already licensed or certified by a psychology regulatory board in the United States or Canada on the basis of a doctoral degree, who submits a complete application with fees, has a clean criminal and disciplinary record, and certifies under oath that they have reviewed and will abide by Idaho's psychology laws and rules and the APA code of ethics - and who either holds a current Certificate of Professional Qualification in Psychology (CPQ) or a certificate of professional standing from a board-approved national credentialing entity, or meets the substantive education and experience requirements of 54-2307(2). Idaho's universal-licensure statute (Idaho Code 67-9409) additionally requires every licensing authority to have a pathway for holders of a current, valid, unrestricted out-of-state licence, and forbids boards from imposing a jurisprudence exam. Idaho enacted the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT) in Idaho Code 54-2321, effective July 1, 2022, allowing Idaho-licensed psychologists to provide telepsychology and up to 30 days per calendar year of temporary in-person practice into other compact states and vice versa; IDAPA 24.12.01.400 lists a $10 PSYPACT participation fee. IDAPA 24.12.01.100.02 also allows an out-of-state licensee with no disciplinary history to practise in Idaho for up to 30 days in a calendar year on a temporary permit with the required fee.
