868 IAC 1.1-5-4(b) sets the passing score directly: a scaled score of 500 on the EPPP (the ASPPB-recommended cut score). The rule was last readopted 11/25/2019. Indiana has NOT adopted EPPP Part 2 — the board states "At this time the Indiana State Psychology Board has not adopted EPPP part II." Note the sequencing: Indiana requires the state jurisprudence exam to be passed BEFORE the board will authorize the candidate to sit for the EPPP.

Indiana's plain psychologist licence (IC 25-33-1-5.1(a)) requires a doctoral degree and the examinations but sets no supervised-hour figure. The hour requirements attach to the Health Service Provider in Psychology (HSPP) endorsement, which a licensed psychologist must hold to independently diagnose and treat mental and behavioural disorders. 868 IAC 1.1-13-3.1(a) requires not fewer than two years of experience consisting of (1) a minimum 1,500-hour completed internship and (2) a minimum 1,600 hours of supervised experience accrued over not less than 12 months, including at least 900 hours of direct patient contact. The 1,600 hours may be earned through doctoral-level practicum (pre-doctoral), post-internship experience (post-doctoral), or a combination — which is why postDoc is null. total (3,100) is simply the sum of the two rule-stated components; both are quoted verbatim in evidence.

Written Indiana jurisprudence examination on the statutes and rules governing the practice of psychology. After the rest of the application file is approved, the board emails the exam to the applicant, who has 7 days to complete and return it. It is 50 true-false and multiple-choice questions and the passing criterion is 75%. It must be passed BEFORE the board will authorize the candidate to take the EPPP.

Required by 868 IAC 1.1-5-4(a)(2) and (c) for licensure by examination, and by IC 25-33-1-9(a)(10) for licensure by reciprocity. The board states: "All applicants for psychology licensure are required to pass a jurisprudence examination. No applicant is exempt from this requirement." On re-examination the jurisprudence exam only has to be retaken if the last attempt is more than a year old.

1. Earn a doctoral degree in psychology from a recognised postsecondary institution in a board-approved psychology programme, with the internship shown on the official transcript.
2. Apply online to the Indiana State Psychology Board with the $100 application fee, a criminal background check, and official transcripts.
3. Pass the Indiana jurisprudence examination emailed to you after your file is approved — 50 true-false/multiple-choice questions, 75% to pass, returned within 7 days.
4. Once the jurisprudence exam is passed, receive board authorisation and sit for the EPPP, scoring at least a scaled 500 (Indiana has not adopted EPPP Part 2).
5. Apply separately, with a $100 fee and Forms A/B/C, for the Health Service Provider in Psychology endorsement — 1,500 internship hours plus 1,600 supervised hours (900 direct patient contact) — which is required to independently diagnose and treat mental and behavioural disorders.
6. Renew the licence every two years by August 31 of even-numbered years for $100; HSPP holders must also complete 40 hours of continuing education per cycle, including 6 in ethics.

PSYPACT member

Indiana issues a licence by reciprocity under IC 25-33-1-9 to an applicant who holds a valid psychologist licence or certificate from another state, holds a doctoral degree, has practised continuously since being licensed, achieved the EPPP passing score required by the board when it was administered, and passes the Indiana jurisprudence examination on Indiana law. The board's application checklist for reciprocity requires the $100 fee, a criminal background check, and licence verification sent directly from the other state (licence cards are not accepted), and notes that the HSPP credential is NOT included in the reciprocity application — it must be applied for separately. Indiana also participates in PSYPACT: the compact was adopted by SEA 365-2022, is codified at IC 25-33.5, and went live in Indiana on July 5, 2023, so out-of-state psychologists may seek APIT (telepsychology) and TAP (temporary in-person) authorisations through the PSYPACT Commission. Separately, a psychologist licensed elsewhere to practise without supervision may apply under IC 25-33-1-4.5 for a limited-scope temporary psychology permit ($50), valid for a non-renewable period of not more than 30 days in any two-year period.
