Missouri does not print a number. 20 CSR 2235-2.060(3)(C) sets the passing standard as "at least the minimum pass point designated by the developer of the EPPP examination" — i.e. the ASPPB-designated cut, which is the scaled score of 500. The same standard is applied to applicants transferring a score in under 20 CSR 2235-2.065(2)(C). Missouri's rules refer to the EPPP generally; nothing in Chapter 337 or 20 CSR 2235 indicates a move to EPPP Part 1 only. An applicant who fails may sit up to four times in a 12-month period, and the application is denied if the EPPP is not passed within two years of the first attempt.

Section 337.025.4, RSMo (as amended 2018) is the controlling authority and it does NOT require a postdoctoral year. It requires (1) a minimum of 1,500 hours in a successfully completed internship, completed in 12-24 months, plus (2) a minimum of 2,000 additional hours that may be any combination of preinternship hours, predoctoral post-internship hours, up to 750 hours accrued on internship beyond the first 1,500, or postdoctoral hours. Minimum total is therefore 3,500 hours, and the second 2,000 may be earned entirely before the doctorate. The board's own application instruction letter confirms both routes, heading the pathway "LICENSURE BY EXAMINATION (Based on Pre-Doctoral Hours or Post-Doctoral Hours)" and providing a Supervised Pre-Doc Hours Summary Form (375-1076). CAUTION: the older rule 20 CSR 2235-2.040(1)(B)1 still states that postdoctoral supervised professional experience "shall consist of a minimum of fifteen hundred (1,500) hours" accrued in 12-24 months at 20-50 hours/week; that figure governs applicants who take the postdoctoral route, but the statute no longer makes a postdoctoral year mandatory. Postdoctoral experience must be capped at 24 consecutive months and 50 hours/week. Supervision: primary supervisor must meet the applicant at least one hour per month face to face individually (one hour per week if the primary supervisor is also the clinical supervisor, or for secondary clinical supervisors); group supervision is not acceptable.

Required

In-person written exam on the Missouri Psychology Practice Act and rules, with particular emphasis on the Ethical Rules of Conduct (20 CSR 2235-5.030). 100 multiple-choice questions, 3 hours, 70% correct to pass. Offered once a month, generally the second week, starting at 1:00 pm at the Division of Professional Registration, 3605 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City; when given alongside the oral examination it is usually a Friday starting at 8:00 am.

Fee: $75

One of three component examinations for licensure (EPPP, jurisprudence, oral). An applicant must pass both the EPPP and the jurisprudence exam before being allowed to take the oral examination. Reciprocity applicants under section 337.029.1, RSMo must also pass "a written examination on Missouri laws and regulations governing the practice of psychology" — per the board's instruction letter, reciprocity applicants take the jurisprudence exam only, and endorsement-of-score applicants take the jurisprudence and oral exams. Fee note: the $75 jurisprudence fee is the amended figure effective August 30, 2026 (it was $50 before that date, per the proposed amendment published at 51 Mo. Reg. 472, April 1, 2026). Jurisprudence re-examination is $50.

1. Earn a doctoral degree in psychology from a program accredited by APA, CPA or PCSAS, designated by ASPPB/National Register, or one that meets the criteria in section 337.025.3(3), RSMo, including a supervised practicum or internship and one year's residency at the degree-granting institution.
2. Complete at least 1,500 hours of internship in 12-24 months, plus at least 2,000 further supervised hours, which may be preinternship, predoctoral post-internship, up to 750 extra internship hours, or postdoctoral.
3. If you will accrue postdoctoral hours in Missouri, apply for a provisional license first (Form 375-0332, $150) with a filed post-degree supervision plan; it is valid one year and renewable for one more.
4. File the application for licensure with the $150 fee, an official transcript sent directly by the school, three mental health professional references, the supervised-experience forms (375-0333/375-0334 or the pre-doc summary 375-1076), proof of fingerprint submission to MACHS/IdentoGO, and attestation to two hours of suicide assessment, referral, treatment and management training.
5. After the committee grants eligibility, pass the EPPP at the pass point set by ASPPB, then pass the Missouri jurisprudence examination (100 questions, 70%) — both are prerequisites to the oral examination.
6. Pass the committee's oral examination on ethics and professional practice, then receive the license and renew biennially ($300).
7. If you will deliver psychological health services, apply separately for Health Service Provider certification under section 337.033, RSMo and 20 CSR 2235-3.020 ($100).

PSYPACT member

Section 337.029.1, RSMo allows a psychologist licensed elsewhere with no violations, suspensions or revocations in any jurisdiction to be licensed in Missouri, provided the applicant passes the written examination on Missouri laws and regulations (the jurisprudence exam) and meets one of four criteria: ABPP diplomate; member of the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology; currently licensed in another state/territory/DC with an APA- or PCSAS-accredited doctorate (or one meeting section 337.025.3(3)), licensed for the preceding five years with no disciplinary action in those five years; or holder of an ASPPB Certificate of Professional Qualification (CPQ). Section 337.029.2 permits the committee to require an oral examination as well; the board's instruction letter says applicants qualifying under those criteria do not take the oral exam, while endorsement-of-score applicants take both the jurisprudence and oral exams. Separately, 20 CSR 2235-2.065 permits licensure by endorsement of an EPPP score transferred from ASPPB's Licensed Psychologists Data Source. A one-year temporary license (20 CSR 2235-1.026) is available to out-of-state licensees while a reciprocity or endorsement application is pending. Missouri has enacted the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT), codified at sections 337.100 to 337.165, RSMo, covering the compact privilege to practice telepsychology and temporary in-person practice of up to 30 days per calendar year.
